Signing of Cooperation Agreement on Developing Chinese Language Textbooks with Peking University, China
On April 13, 2026, a delegation from the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi visited, held a working session, and signed a cooperation agreement with Peking University (PKU), China on jointly developing a set of Chinese language textbooks to be published by Peking University Press.

Within the framework of the working program, the delegation had a professional exchange with the leadership of the publishing house and experts from the Institute of International Chinese Language Education under PKU. During the meeting, both sides discussed and agreed on many important contents related to the textbook development process. Representatives from ULIS included Vice President Hoa Ngoc Son and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, Nguyen Thi Minh.

The parties agreed to ensure the consistency of the four-volume textbook series following a “book map” orientation, while also establishing a specific development timeline, a peer-review process involving experts, and a pilot implementation plan starting from September 2026. In addition, both sides carefully discussed issues related to authorship copyright, publishing and distribution rights, as well as orientations for developing electronic versions of the textbooks in the future.

The Chinese language textbook series is expected to consist of four volumes at elementary to intermediate levels, with the first volume intended for beginners. This represents an important step toward continuing the modernization of teaching materials and improving the quality of Chinese language training at ULIS in line with international integration.
It is known that Peking University is one of the leading educational institutions in China and the developer and publisher of the widely used “Boya Chinese” textbook series for international learners.

This cooperation activity once again affirms ULIS’s orientation toward strengthening internationalization, developing high-quality learning materials, and expanding academic collaboration in the field of language education and research.
