Blue Waves Media 2026: A Creative Space For Students Of The Transcultural Communication And Media Programme
On May 17, 2026, the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS) – Vietnam National University, Hanoi successfully organized the Blue Waves Media Programme. As an annual event dedicated to students of the Transcultural Communication and Media Programme (International Communication major), the programme serves as a creative platform while recognizing students’ academic achievements, experiences, and personal growth throughout their studies at ULIS.

The Blue Waves Media Contest is a creative media competition focusing on students’ academic life, personal journeys, and developmental experiences within the Transcultural Communication and Media Programme. Featuring five annual categories, the contest encourages students to observe, experiment, and tell stories through videos on themes such as “A Day in My Life,” “Personal Journey,” and “Outstanding Events of the Year.” In addition, students are invited to design leaflets introducing “Essential Information about the Programme” or sharing “Hidden Tips and Secrets about ULIS,” campus life, and the surrounding environment.
The programme was attended by Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Le Kim Anh, representatives from the Faculty of English Language and Culture, and students from all cohorts of the Transcultural Communication and Media Programme.

In her opening remarks, Vice Rector Ha Le Kim Anh expressed her expectations that graduates of the Transcultural Communication and Media Programme would have opportunities to pursue careers aligned with their professional training. Recalling the milestone year of 2023, when the first cohort was admitted, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Le Kim Anh shared memorable reflections on the programme’s achievements throughout its first three years of establishment and development. Emphasizing the programme’s distinctive strengths, she encouraged students to continue striving academically while fostering research capacity and creative thinking. The University leadership also reaffirmed its commitment to accompanying and supporting students in building the best possible learning and experiential environment for those enrolled in the programme.

During the programme, Vice Dean of the Faculty of English Language and Culture, Dr. Phung Ha Thanh, shared insights into the philosophy behind the competition. According to Dr. Phung Ha Thanh, the Blue Waves Media Contest does not aim to create merely industrialized “products,” but rather values creative “works” that reflect the personal identity and authentic voice of each student. She also acknowledged the dedicated contributions of lecturers from the Linguistics, Intercultural Communication, and especially International Studies divisions within the Faculty of English Language and Culture, whose efforts have significantly contributed to the programme’s development over the past three years. At the same time, she encouraged students to maintain sincerity and creativity in their communication practices.

In the first part of the programme, numerous outstanding contest entries were showcased to participants. The submissions took various forms, including posters, leaflets, blogs, and videos, presenting diverse perspectives on academic life, personal experiences, and student journeys through the lens of Transcultural Communication and Media students themselves.
