The research project has achieved its objectives set for each component:
1) Reviewing the linguistic trends and translation theories as the fundamental background for English-Vietnamese translation quality assessment at present.
2) Surveying the current situations of translation practice as well as translation quality assessment in the country for the analysis, evaluation and recommendation of appropriate TQA models for Vietnam.
3) Applying the recommended models in English-Vietnamese translation criticism and assessment for the appropriateness of use and in terms of the TQA purposes of each model in Vietnam.
4) Evaluating and recommending the appropriateness of each model in terms of its feasibility in English-Vietnamese TQA to improve the quality of translation practice and translation training in Vietnam.
The 3 groups of TQA models in terms of purposes for English-Vietnamese translation practice are as follows: 1) Models for training purposes: Nord (1991, 2005), Hatim và Mason (1990); 2) Model for research purpose: House (1977/1997/2005); 3) Model for professional purposes: Newmark (1988). Besides, recommendations for modifying proposed models are made in the application reports
