Seminar: “Sustainable Development of Multilingual Community-based Tourism”

On January 23, 2026, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS-VNU) organized a seminar titled “Sustainable Development of Multilingual Community-based Tourism”.

The seminar was attended by ULIS leaders, including Vice-Rectors Lam Quang Dong and Hoa Ngoc Son, representatives from departments, lecturers, and students. The guest speaker was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Thu Trang from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

In his opening remarks, Vice-Rector Hoa Ngoc Son highlighted ULIS’s strengths in language education and interdisciplinary development, especially the integration of tourism-related content into language training programs to meet practical and social demands.

Vice-Rector Lam Quang Dong emphasized ULIS’s orientation toward sustainable development and community service, encouraging students to apply language expertise to tourism development and the promotion of local cultural values.

During the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Thu Trang shared practical experiences in developing community-based tourism associated with traditional craft villages, mentioning examples such as Chi Le craft village, ASEAN tourism standards, and the OCOP model.

She also stressed the importance of legal procedures, project planning, field surveys, and preserving traditional cultural values to ensure sustainable tourism development.

The seminar ended with an interactive discussion session and a group photo.
