The workshop on Curriculum for Blended Teacher Development

Implementing the plan of Vietnam’s National Foreign Language Project 2020 (VNFLP 2020), the University of Languages and International Studies – Viet Nam National University, Hanoi (ULIS-VNU) collaborated with the project management board of VNFLP 2020 and Dr. Diana L. Dudzik – a scholar of Fulbright program to organize the workshop with an aim to introducing Curriculum for Blended Teacher Development on May 17th, 2017.
The workshop was held by ULIS – the implementation point of the program of Curriculum for Blended Teacher Development to take experts’ comments about program’s results and especially to discuss implementation orientations in the coming time.2017-05-17_16-42-52
The workshop welcomed the attendance of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Mai Huu – Manager of VNFLP 2020; Dr. Do Tuan Minh – ULIS’s President; Dr. Diana L. Dudzik – program adviser; Prof. Nguyen Hoa – President of ULIS’s Education and Research Council ; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Long – Vice President of University of Foreign Language Studies, Da Nang University; Assoc. Prof Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Head of Faculty of English Language Teaching and Education – Ho Chi Minh Education University; representatives from other universities, provincial departments of education and training, organizations and others.
Addressing at the workshop, Dr. Do Tuan Minh assured that ULIS was honorably entrusted to implement many missions by VNFLP 2020. He emphasized that fostering teacher must be conducted on a regular basis and in a systematic, practical and effective manner. Lending on that ground, ULIS always made great effort to build the Curriculum for Teacher Training combining the direct in-class teaching method and the online one.2017-05-17_16-43-13
Mr. Minh also extended his thanks to teachers who actively participated in developing the project and expressed the wish of ULIS to create a forum for sharing experience in blended teacher development courses. Currently, the curriculum has been formulated with 37 courses for 3 groups of teacher. He strongly expected that today discussions would become the foundation to build teacher training courses in the future.
On behalf of VNFLP 2020’s management Board, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Mai Huu congratulated the research team on the success of the program. She affirmed that this program played an important role in fostering ULIS’s English teachers and teachers nationwide 2017-05-17_16-43-20
On behalf of the program development team, Dr. Diana L. Dudzik extended a special thanks to VNFLP 2020 and ULIS for facilitating the team to implement the program. She also expressed her deep gratitude to the team members who had built the program for the past time.
In the workshop, the team presented a report on the plan, assessing the needs, objectives and progress of framework program development. In particular, the team also introduced courses that have been built with specific demo products.2017-05-17_16-43-27

Delivering the closing remarks, Dr. Do Tuan Minh referred the workshop as a brief report on initial steps taken by foreign language universities, including ULIS, to implement the model of training teachers in a new way with a combination of online and direct training.
