ULIS – a place to nurture future dreams: Chinese international student shares her experiences at ULIS

Ngu Trieu Quyen, 22 years old, an international student from China, shared a few lines about her journey to ULIS through the international exchange program. Trieu Quyen is impressed with ULIS not only by the enthusiasm and thoughtfulness of teachers and friends but also by the multicultural environment here. Let’s find out how Quyen has realized her passion at ULIS!

What fate brought you to ULIS-VNU?

Before entering university, I never thought about studying abroad. However, after two years of diligently studying Vietnamese in my hometown, the opportunity came when I learned about the international exchange program between the university that I was studying at and ULIS – VNU.

My decision to choose ULIS was motivated by many factors. First of all, the international exchange program between the two universities would open the door to help me experience a diverse learning environment and come into contact with new cultures, not only Vietnamese culture but also other cultures. Furthermore, many seniors in my department had also chosen ULIS and shared positive reviews about the dynamic learning environment, dedicated teaching staff and opportunities for personal development here. Therefore, ULIS is the place where I chose to spend her next youthful years of study.

What are your first impressions of ULIS?

Before arriving at ULIS, I couldn’t help but worry about differences in culture, cuisine, and especially academic pressure. I’m afraid that it would be difficult for me to adapt to the new conditions here. However, those worries quickly disappeared when I immersed myself in the friendly, open learning environment here. Teachers at ULIS are very enthusiastic, thoughtful and always care about and help international students. In particular, the surrounding students are also very sociable and friendly. They always care and treat me very well, making me feel very warm and like I’m at home.

In particular, I was impressed by the hospitality and easy-goingness of Vietnamese people. To me, everyone treats each other very gently and friendly. This helps me appreciate the close friendship between Vietnam and China even more.

What plans do you have for the future?

With a dynamic, multilingual learning environment, a systematic training program, and a team of dedicated lecturers, ULIS has brought me many opportunities to develop myself. Participating in learning programs organized by the university I has more opportunities to practice Vietnamese, hone specialized knowledge and practice soft skills. In particular, at ULIS – a place that trains different language majors – I has the opportunity to learn and immerse myself in a multicultural environment like never before. The knowledge and skills learned here would be valuable tools for me on my career path ahead. My dream after graduating is to work at a company that cooperates with Vietnam, contributing to cultivating the good friendship between the two countries. I hopes to partly inspire young people who are passionate about Vietnamese and want to experience studying abroad in Vietnam, and more specifically, study at ULIS.

Ngu Trieu Quyen’s journey at ULIS is a testament to the attraction of the international educational environment in Vietnam. This place not only provides international students with quality learning opportunities but is also a bridge for them to explore culture, make friends and cultivate dreams for the future.
