The dynamic night of the finale of 2017 National Specialized English Olympiad in the North
Resuming the success of the previous 9 seasons, in 2017, the national English Olympiad targeting students from universities, institutes and colleges that teach English as a major attracted 55 teams nationwide. The competition was organized by the University of Languages and International Studies-Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS-VNU) in collaboration with the National Foreign Languages 2020 Project Management Board, the Youth League of ULIS, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh city and the University of Da Nang city.
This is a useful playground for students, facilitating meetings, exchanges of experience in foreign languages learning and mutual understanding enhancement among students of units. More importantly, the competition is aimed at encouraging the English learning movement across the country, encouraging students to strive and train. As while, with the theme of “Creative students, integration and start-up”, the program is an opportunity for students to express their views on social issues of concern to develop and help the society and the country.
After six rounds of judging from the Vietnam Maritime University, Hanoi University of Business and Technology, Hanoi National University of Education, Academy of Finance, The People’s Security Academy entered the final round of the competition for the North in the evening of May 24th, 2017 at the Nguyen Van Dao hall, VNU. Six differently-colored yet incredibly-talented teams have brought the 2017 National Olympic Games a new, fresh and dynamic wind.
Dr. Tran Trong Hung – Deputy Head of National Foreign Languages 2020 Project Management Board; Mr. Tran Quang Hung – Vice Head of School Youth Committee, Youth League of Hanoi; Dr. Do Tuan Minh – ULIS’s President; representatives of universities in the North and hundreds of students attended the program.
Speaking at the finale of the competition for the North, President Minh extended his greetings to the teams. He hopes that with the interesting theme “Creative students, integration and start-up”, the teams will showcase attractive competitions with many meaningful memories.
During the finale of the North, the teams competed in three competitions: Greeting, Knowledge and Debate. With talent and passion, six teams have brought to the game exciting and interesting performances.
Finally, The People’s Security Academy won the competition. The two best teams, the The People’s Security Academy and Vietnam Maritime Academy, will represent universities in the North in the National Finale in Hanoi on June 15th, 2017.
In addition, two other regional finals in the Central Region on May 25th at the University of Da Nang and the South on May 30th at Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City promised to be the “burning” and “shining” nights.
