ULIS students launched the campaign “Voluntary Summer 2018”

On July 25th – 27th, 2018, the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS – VNU) in collaboration with the Youth Union of the Military Science Academy (MSA) conducted the campaign “Voluntary Summer 2018” with several activities such as visiting and presenting gifts to the families of preferential policy and people who made contributions to the revolution, and offering incense to the heroic martyrs at Da Bac martyr’s cemetery, Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province.

At the first destination, the group offered incense and flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh and the memorial of martyrs of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant and visited Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant.

In the morning of July 26th, in Da Bac town, Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province, the group conducted the first task of clearing grass and waste coming from the upstream of streams. All the members urgently made their ways with the spirit “determine to remove all of garbage from the stream flow”. Only after 4 hours of intensive work, despite a changeable weather, the whole group with their enthusiasm and full of youthfulness accomplished the task. More than 3 kilometers around the stream banks and along the stream was cleaned up to clear the stream flow. Moreover, the voluntary trip became more meaningful when the group visited and presented gifts to families of preferential policy, war invalids and ill veterans having arduous life in the area.

On the same day, the group cooperated with the local people in organizing the incense tribute to heroic martyrs on the occasion of the 71th anniversary of Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs Day (27/7/1947-27/7/2018). On the second day of the trip, the Youth Union participated in some art performance activities, visited and sent meaningful gifts to seriously injured invalids and children with difficulties. ULIS’s Youth Union awarded 12 presents to 12 families of the preferential policy and 10 presents to students with difficulties. Despite the fact that those presents were not lavish, they were expected to be able to help the lives of those families and students to some extent.

Despite the limited time of the trip, it was rewarding because of the meaningful and memorable experience that all members of the group had consequently.
